Class Observation

On Tuesday, I had gone to my third class observation. This class observation was a grammar lesson class and the instructor was Rebecca Turk. Although Rebecca apologized at the beginning of the class because she was feeling quite unwell to the point that she could not raise her voice too high, or be standing up for too long. She gave her students back a worksheet plan that they were working on and told all of her students that they needed to redo the last part of it. Because all of her students' response to the question "What will you do to improve your English language skills?" and almost all of them replied "I will study" or "I will practice". Rebecca Turk wanted her students to form an actual schedule plan of how to improve their English. She gave her students about 10 minutes or less to work on their plan, she gave them an explanation first before letting them work on it on their own. After everyone was done with working on that, they were paired up with the person next to them and had to share their plan. One of the students shared his plan with the whole class and I thought that his plan was actually a great plan for them to do. This student's plan was to write a daily journal and that at the end of the week he would have his tutor or conversational partner look over his journal. Having his tutor explain to him any grammar errors he may have had in his journal. After that, the instructor went over the students' grammar mistakes they had done over their in-class work the day before. And although Rebecca apologized to me that she wasn't able to teach her class like she normally does under better condition, I still felt like I learn how she teaches the grammar.
