Today Zaymed and I met at the CIES lounge. We worked on how to write
something for a composition. My lesson to him was to create a useful 'formula'
or 'outline' by describing everything in the essay including topic sentences,
thesis sentences, introductions, body paragraphs, and conclusions while using
transition words. Zaymed brought an example composition that he made notes on,
so it seemed as though he can identify the elements pretty well. His main issue
seems to be coming up with articulated ideas and what exactly the function and
placement is of each essay 'ingredient'.
We outlined the meaning of
these items and I gave him some 'crutches' or lingual support so that he can
have a way to plug in some meaningful discourse in the approved format. At some
point once we clear every part of this explanation, I'd like to guide him
through a quick composition myself just to reinforce what we've learnt.
