Conversation Partner

On Monday, the first of July, I had met up with my second conversational partner I had signed up for. Marcia Ahn is her name. I had learned that Marcia was born and raised in Brazil; however, her parents are Korean. Therefore, Marcia had grown up speaking both Portuguese and Korean. Because it was our first meeting, we were just trying to get to know each other and I was more focus on having her speak for me to hear what I needed to work on most. I had asked her about how she feels with the English grammar system since she knows both Portuguese and Korean, and she had told me that she used to write English using the Portuguese grammar system instead of the English. Which is understandable. Even though she was born and raised in Brazil within her parents' home she spoke and followed her parents' Korean ways. We also talked about music and drawing. She told me that in Brazil they mostly focus on academic education, so there was never an art or music class in school. That is why when one of her professors took them, the class, to the MoA and was told to pick art to talk about what the artists were feeling and such. Marcia doesn't understand art and how to explain what the art portrays since she wasn't exposed to it growing up. However, she always wanted to play an instrument growing up and she still sort of want to learn to this day. I look forward to our next session.
