My weekly conversation class at the library was quite different today. Normally there are students from a variety of countries and they have varying levels of English proficiency. Today, the students were all absolute beginning level students from Africa. Although I was unprepared to work with them, the session turned out to be quite enjoyable (for me, at least) and useful for them. I worked with them on basic vocabulary needs. They practiced saying "My name is..." and learned the names of basic colors and classroom items. They seemed to pick it up through much repetition. Some were apprehensive at first and others were very eager to participate. By the end of the class they seemed more comfortable.
